As the reading of the Bible takes me through every book of both the Old and the New Testaments every year, it continues to be full of pearls as we dig in His Word.
We find that when the ark of God’s presence was placed in the Tabernacle that David built we see a tremendous heart of thanksgiving such as burnt offerings and peace offerings and King David gave to everyone, both men and women a loaf of bread, a piece of meat and a cake of raisins. There must have been thousands upon thousands of people because it talks of all Israel being there. It therefore seems that in the presence of the Lord there is great generosity and thanksgiving.
And now King David writes a song of thanksgiving. So not only is David a giver of himself, now he writes a song to the Lord. In 1 Chron 16:8-10 and also verses 23-25 he writes, “Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!”
Here is a man after God’s own heart, and this is his instruction to all as he was as he says we should be. He tells all the earth to sing to the Lord, proclaim His salvation everyday, declare His glory and His wonders to all peoples for the Lord is great and greatly to be praised, and He is to be feared above all Gods.
Let us be a people like David, having a heart of praise unto our God.
With much love,
Ps Bernie
