The wording that we find in Scripture is that if knowledge isn’t dispensed, people will be destroyed (Hos 4:6), and that is not the Father’s will. His will is that all should come to repentance and not perish (2 Pet 3:9). 1 Tim 2:4 (referring to God our Saviour) say, “who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
The second responsibility we have is to be salt. The word “Salt” figuratively means Prudence, and is defined as discretion, wisdom, common sense, presence of mind, care, tact and carefulness.
As we look at these different meanings from the dictionary, Col 4:6 makes a lot of sense. “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” We can be salt to those we speak to as we speak redemptively, that is a keeping agent, as we know salt is a keeping agent on meat, fish, poultry and many other foods in the natural.
Let this be food for thought, especially in the spiritual which is what I am trying to address; that we are to be light and salt to this world that needs both.
With much love,
Bernie
