This week, three of us went on an intensive three-day seminar with eight sessions per day on the whole area of being kingdom minded 24/7 This was very challenging.
Matt 28:19 in the NIV says this as does the living Bible, “...and teach these new disciples to obey the commands I have given you.” I looked this up in the Strong’s concordance and in the Englishman’s Greek Concordance of the New Testament. Figuratively it means “to fulfil a command”. This puts a whole new light on the Great Commission as we are to go and make disciples of all nations baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit and discipling them to obey all the commands of Jesus and we all know that we cannot teach that which we are not doing. First we need to be convinced that Jesus us not just Saviour of our lives, but indeed He is Lord and King and therefore has every right to demand our obedience as He was obedient for you. See, He is not commanding us out of head knowledge but out of obedience to the Father.
As sons and daughters of the King, we need to be more and more living as the King commands for then there is fulfillment and joy of knowing that we are walking in His will and making disciples as He has commanded us. Only then can we (with authority) teach others to obey all the commands that He has given us.
Soul food & blessing: Luke 8:31, John 15:14-17; Acts 16:18; 2 Thess 3:4,6; Matt 15;4 and 1 Tim 4:1-11.

The command has been given to every Christian to go out and make disciples. In Matt 28:17-20, we find that when Jesus appeared to His disciples after walking with them and teaching them for 3 and a half years, not only in words but also in demonstration, they still had difficulty in believing that He had really risen from the dead. Verse 17 says that they worshiped Him, but some doubted.
The “Go” therefore is plain and simple and does not need to be explained at all. We just have to be obedient in whatever way Jesus Christ has gifted you. With that gift we are to go out and to the best of our ability be doers of His word and the promise is that He will confirm His Word with signs following the preaching of His Word.
Let His Word be the mirror that we judge ourselves with (James 1:21-25). Let us never judge the Word by our experience only.

The time has come to hear the Word of the Lord afresh like Ezekiel in Ez 37:1-14.When the Lord said to Ezekiel, “Son of man, can these bones live? And wisely he answered, “Lord You know.” Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord”.So he did as the Lord instructed him, saying, “Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.”’”And we know what happened as 1) God commanded and 2) Ezekiel was obedient and prophesied.
I'd like to make the challenge to everyone that it is time again for us to hear the Word of the Lord and to listen to and also do what He would command us as we too would see the staggering results that Ezekiel saw but only as he did the will of God by the word of God. I am believing for great things for CityLight Church. Let’s walk in obedience to Him and fulfil the call upon our lives together being light and salt to the community where God has placed us. In reading the Scriptures, I am constantly challenged by God’s Word and tremble at the awesomeness of our God.
As I read from Isaiah 66:2b “But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word.” Doesn’t that just tie in with Matt 5:3, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” The meaning of poor in New Testament theology is “those in affliction have confidence only in God”. Do we still tremble at His Word as the prophets of old did, or have we become blasé about His Word to us like the nation of Israel?
Jeremiah spoke and prophesied to that nation about the impending doom that was about to fall on Israel because they had rejected the Word of the Lord to them; by not letting the land have rest at the end of every six years. For over 400 years they were disobedient and because of that they were put into exile for 70 years, one for every 7 years that they disobeyed Him. 2 Chron 36:16 show us that we cannot mock God and expect to avoid any of the  consequences (also read Gal 6:7-10[esp verse 7]).
Let us be that new nation under God, willing to live for Him and do His will, being known as His friends (John 15:14 and James 2:23). Amen.
