The Mustard Seed Myth
Many people are familiar with mustard seeds, but what many people aren’t aware of is that the seeds Jesus spoke of that were common to his area were not the size we are familiar with today, but were as tiny as a grain of sand.
Many people can identify with being told by others that they need more faith, or that their faith is small. You may have been told that. Unfortunately, mustard seed faith is what many people believe they have. In addition to that, they often believe that they don’t have enough faith to believe for something significant.
That belief is a myth! Do you need more faith? In Luke 17:5-6 the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you”. In Matt 17:20, Jesus said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
The key word in both of these verses is “If”, and it means “provided that”. Jesus was saying, “Provided that your faith is the size of a mustard seed, you can do… and nothing will be impossible for you…” but He never said that the mustard seed size was the amount of faith any of us actually had, he only said that was all you need! The limit is one we put on ourselves.
Don’t limit yourself to believing little. After all, the results don’t depend on you, they depend on God.
Have a faith filled rest of the year,

What an amazing opportunity we have to be a people of faith because of what because of what Jesus did for us on the cross of Calvary and His glorious resurrection. Here we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and being able to say, “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace and goodwill toward men. That same greeting came via a multitude of angels praising God.
This was such a change to the Jewish people who had always been busy keeping the law of Moses and all of a sudden One greater than Solomon, greater than Jonah (Luke 11:31-32), greater than Abraham (John 8:31-59), and greater than Moses (Heb 3:1-6). The greatest one to ever set foot on the earth without a doubt was Jesus Christ the Son of God.
Just think. By faith in Him and by faith following Him and proclaiming Him to all who will listen, who knows how many opportunities God might give you to let your light shine in this Christmas and holiday season.
Let there be a good balance between faith and the outworking of faith Gal 3:1-9 and James 2:14-26.
One final thing. Please drive with care and be a witness in this season, not a statistic.
With much love,
Bernie.
Rom 8:11 says, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
Mark 11:22b-24 says “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
Mark 16:17-18 also says, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Gen 1:26 says that we are made in the image of God and after His likeness.
Have you ever let your mind wander and think about the outworking of the above Scriptures? Have you thought of what we are capable of seeing and doing because of the fact that we are Children of God, with the power of His Spirit living inside of us?
You have the potential to do huge things for God. You can be an incredible influence in and on the world because Christ lives IN YOU.
I can’t help but wonder what you plan on doing for Him because of what He has done for you? How will you make a dent in this world, so that when it is your time to stand before your Maker He can say back at you with enthusiasm, “That was awesome!! I loved it when we did that!!”
You many not have realised it, but you are amazing!!
