How things continue to change! Now we see our government suggesting we change the laws of marriage being between a man and woman (it can’t be any other way according to the Bible) to making it say between two adults!
Earthquakes, wars and rumours of wars. Matthew devotes a whole chapter in his book (Matt 24) telling us all the things that will take place, which when you combine them all would make one wonder if anybody can endure all the things written about? Jesus Himself says but for the elect’s sake these days will be shortened. Another verse tells us he/she who endures to the end will be saved.
We all know that enduring means to be found busy till He comes, not sitting or cowering in abject fear until He snatches you out. Rather we are to be declaring the good news as to what Jesus came to do when He entered the world bringing glory to God in the highest and on earth peace and good will to all men. Remember, He is the Prince of peace!
Luke 5:18,19 reaffirms this, that the gospel is Good News. He brought it and in Matt 28:18-20, He sends us out with authority and tells us to go and make disciples. It is in the doing that we are His servants, not in the knowing.

Let our example of life be one that our children are able to follow without fear that it might lead them in the wrong direction. As I am reading the New Testament through for a second time again this year, I again was challenged by 1 Cor 10:1-12 and the heading reads, “Old Testament Examples” and these are given to us as examples as what not to do and there are a number of things mentioned, i.e. ‘Lusting after evil things’; ‘Do not become idolators’; ‘Having idols in your life rather than God and Him only!!’; ‘Don’t commit sexual immorality’; ‘Don’t complain’. These are all warnings with dire consequences - death. Our final admonition in these verses is in verse 12 where it says, “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall”.
Let’s look at the opposite of all these things. Doing good Acts 10:38; Love the Lord with all your heart Matt 22:37-40; be sexually pure; instead of tempting Jesus, be obedient to His commands; and be His friend John 15:14; and don’t complain, instead in all things give thanks for this is the will of God for you (1 Thess 5:18).
Let all of us be good examples to
others who follow in our footsteps. Flee from idolatry. (1 Cor 10:14)

Bernie

How often do we stop and think and then plan to make the life of the family more meaningful and fun as we serve the Lord together, mindful that we should bear fruit and fruit that remains (John 15:14-16).
The outworking of these few verses will keep you and I busy in our Christian commitment for the rest of our lives, both as individuals and as a family and the bigger family - the local church.
If we are grafted into the true vine the outworking should be the bearing of much fruit, for what is happening inwardly must find an outworking externally for it to be real.
John the Baptist asked the Pharisees and the Sadducees to show him fruits worthy of repentance (Matt 3:7-10) warning them if there was no fruit on the tree - “cut it down”.
In the context of John 15:1-17 we who are grafted into the vine (Christ) are to be fruit bearers for Him. How can that be seen? The fruit of the Spirit being evident (Gal 5:22); the Winning of souls; the list goes on and on.
Our Faith must have an outworking for it to be seen as genuine (James 2:14-26).
Holy Spirit, help us to be true disciples of our Lord and Saviour and coming King.
With much love, Bernie
